A Shelf of Poetry/NaPoWriMo Day 10

Fleece Navidad Billy Collins
and Gregg Shorthand!
(How did y’all end up together?)

Emily Dickinson’s Acts of Life
snuggles up to Desiderata,
a single, thin
favorite poem book I’ve had
for 34 years,
while my pink Holy Bible
covers them both.

Heart Gifts from Helen Steiner Rice
touch me, For the Love, and
create a strong yearning to
Knit the Sky.

An Introduction to
Zen Buddhism can
create Good Karma.

Meanwhile, the satin bookmarks
hanging from above
are lifelines to different
translations of God’s story,
that all reveal the Way, the Truth,
and the Life…

Today’s challenge was to create a book spine poem by looking at our bookshelves and using the book titles. I added some words in between the book titles and then even played with the fact that there were all those satin bookmarks hanging from my bible shelf above like little lifelines. It probably doesn’t make much sense, but it was fun to write!
