A Lune for Dee/NaPoWriMo Day 1

Some folks call me Dee,
short name for…
short gal with long name.

Today’s suggestion was to write a poem called a “lune.” A lune is a three line English language poem in a 5-3-5 format, meaning 5 syllables or words, 3 syllables or words, 5 syllables or words.

“Dee” truly is my nickname. My husband came up with that nickname, which is a longer story than you want to read here. After we were married, the nickname came in handy because at first I didn’t hyphenate my name. You can imagine the confusion of being called “Elaine Lane.” Dee Lane was/is much simpler. 😉

National Poetry Month & NaPoWriMo Strikes Again!

Hi all!

The month of April is National Poetry Month and, as many other poets do, I will be participating in NaPoWriMo. What that means in everyday terms is that each day for the month of April I will be writing a new poem and posting it here on my blog! Yay! Ok, some of these have the potential for being really bad, but sometimes by happy accident, I end up with poems I really like. So, for the month of April, please stop by daily. Hopefully I’ll have a new poem up every day!

Peace and love,
